Straight Trippin' For Zion

The mister and myself decided to take it upon ourselves for a little road trip adventure. We drove ourselves crazy, I mean drove up to Vegas and then made our way to our final destination of beautiful, dreamy Zion National Park. Here are some tips, tricks, and personal advice for your future trip to Zion National Park (which duh, is a no brainer, you NEED to go).

1) If you're not into sleeping on the ground & roughing it as a camper, do yourself a solid and stay at the Cable Mountain Lodge. It's literally steps from the Zion's park entrance, parking is included in the decently priced rate, and they have a nice little room setup for ya to rest your tootsies after a long ass day of hiking. And get ready people they have a pool & jucuzzi!!!
2) Set your clocks for early, if not earlier because people it gets crowded. My hubs and I woke up before the sun did and never regretted doing so; especially for the Narrows & Angels Landing hikes. The last thing you want is A) having a billion people in your gorg nature photos B) sharing the tiniest of walking trails while hanging off a steep cliff playing chicken.

3) Major thangs to bring: all kinds of layers, multiple types of shoes (hiking & athletic for different types of terrain), the wooliest of wool socks, hiking poles (for the Narrows slippery & rocky trails), snacks on snacks on snacks, dry bag, selfie stick, head lamps (those early mornings you think the sun would have already been out), and of course a small day-hike bag (we got ours from REI).

4) Prep your hiking itinerary. We researched for what seemed like forever, on what hikes we died to do, what would be a runner up, and what we could fill in the between in case our dogs were barking from blisters a plenty. This prep helped set our expectations for when we actually arrived & spoke with the ranger before we started our journey.

5) Eat, eat, and eat at Whiptail Grill. It's an eclectic little Mexican restaurant that definitely serves up all sorts of delicious entrees including spaghetti squash enchiladas. Make sure you wash it all down with Utah's apricot beer....I'm still dreaming of that beer.
6) Lastly, make sure to pick up your own National Park patch as you have now become an honorary Zion citizen since you left your blood, sweat, tears and maybe even some mental breakdowns along the way.

Hiking for us has always been such a bonding activity, so with that said, this trip was one of the most memorable trips for us. Bringing us such a connection through being a part of God's beauty in his creation as well as encouraging each other through the the mental & physical efforts of hiking.
BRB Zion!
